Match report Radlett deservedly lost this game by 57 runs. They have played some good cricket this season, but the period after tea yesterday was not one of those occasions.

Chipperfield won the toss and batted. They got off to a flier, our bowlers donating half volleys generously until the score was 77 for no wicket after 18 overs. The fact that Chipperfield were restricted to 216 for 6 after 53 overs was testament to some really excellent fielding, and a great improvement in the bowling after Chris Freeman and Ollie Robertson came on to bowl. Robertson was again the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 for 50 off 21 consecutive overs. Ollie has bowled better than ever this season, and it is sobering that this could be his last match, and if this is true, he will be a serious loss to us, not just for his being our best bowler this year, but his electric fielding and robust batting.

Josh Rose came back well, and Chris Freeman bowled intelligently and effectively.

We felt we had, with an immensely strong batting side, a very good chance of getting these runs. The simple truth, however, is that in good conditions, pretty well ten wickets were gifted to the other side. All the hard work in the field were wasted, and this did not look like a team that had won matches by eight and nine wickets earlier in the season.

With the team perilously close to the bottom of the tables, lessons need to be learned quickly.
