Match report A closely fought game which finished in similsr light to the game when David Hughes hit John Mortimer for 24 in 1971. The drizzle was horrible and the evening grey but the cricket shone. Again it was cricket played by 2 sides who wanted to play cricket and played with great spirit.

Radlett fielded first and restricted Hemel Hempstead to 91 with good performances from Manjul Ganatra, the returning Simon Moses, young David Lawrence and the even younger Tej Malde and a good spell from Phil Simmons. All 10 outcricketers bowled, with Daniel keeping quite tidily. Hemels innings was based round a very good 25 from Guthrie and 16 from Chris Marum and a rapid 17 from Smart. The ground fielding was smart and the throwing looked good. Overall 91 was just about par on a slow wicket made damp by all the rain we have had.

Tej and Phil opened with orders to win it in 15, but tej was soon out and Daniel entered the fray and scored a very good 18 before holing out looking for quick runs. Rikin and Lloyd kept momentum going until they both fell within 3 balls leaving the way clear for an M&M oment, as Moses and Malde (sr) saw Radlett home with 3 balls to spare and to a deserved win.

A big thank you to Max and Daniel for sorting out the team and for all parents for watching, but biggest thanks to Dave Chalkwright at hemel for organising their boys and for such a close game. Hemel are like Hertford, nice people, good organisers and it would be good to have a 4 team tournament next year with Hemel, Hertford, Shenley LC and ourselves.

Thanks to all players who have played all year. Good luck to those moving up to Academy level and I look forward to the 2007 season as we have some good players avaialble for the title charge.
