Match report The 4’s produced a strong performance to crush sorry Kings Langley on Saturday.

The return of Captain Matt Bell from a month in Australia was a welcome boost, and his team responded to his request for a big performance.

On losing the toss, Bell’s men were asked to bat on a wet wicket that looked like it would offer plenty of assistance to bowlers. A new opening partnership of Sutherland and Kailash Morjaria set the platform before the latter was adjudged LBW with the score on 30. Dizzy was promoted to number 3 in the absence of Charles Randall and looked to be in fine form before falling to an excellent Yorker. With the score on 50 – 3, Vice captain Wells joined Nick Tune at the crease and set about rebuilding the innings. They survived an awkward spell and gradually began to find the gaps. They put on a fine stand of 95, but both fell in quick succession. Vishal Patel and Bell continued the good work, and took the score up to 200. Patel in particular was tremendous in his first game for the 4’s this year. He is a powerful batsman that is composed at the crease, he will be one to look out for in the future. He passed fifty in the 51st over to allow Bell to declare on 247-7.

Eyre and Meepagama took the new ball and Kings Langley were immediately under pressure. An early wicket put Radlett on their way and when Sutherland produced a fine direct hit for a run out from cover, Bell was able to crowd the bat.

Carpenter and Brown did a fine job. Ross produced his performance of the year taking 4-30 in 10 overs.

A good catch from Brownie saw Kings Langley all out for 123, with 2 games remaining, Radlett now find themselves in 3rd place in the league.
