Match report We arrived at the ground with 1/2 an eye on the weather - not the best forecast and a lot of ominous black clouds around. Looking at the pitch, it appeared to be a decent batting track (a lot of runs had been scored on it 3 days before when Beds. had nearly upset Warwickshire on the same wicket). If anything, it looked like it might deteriorate slightly. However, this season as captain, I am focused on being aggressive and playing every game to win - bonus points are not in our mind set. As such, I took the bold step to stick the opposition in to bat after winning the toss.

Luton came out aggressively and played some big shots in the first couple of overs, but we soon struck back with some early wickets from Simon Jackson (3 for 24) who tied them back well. Radlett then began to turn the screw with some very tight bowling and an excellent fielding performance. Notably, one of the older players in the side, David Hegartty bowled a superb spell, turning the ball viciously from height and really frustrating the Luton players, ending with figures of 2 for 25 of 14 overs.
We rapped up the innings with a regulation gully catch from Simon Jackson, having restricted the home side to just 128.

In reply, Radlett got off to a shaky start losing Nigel Barlow for 0. This prompted a change in the usual line up and Paul Wright was sent in to nudge a few singles and steady the boat. Wright finished with an impressive 38 before losing his wicket with the score on 52. That left opener David Robinson (57 n.o.) to carry Radlett through, which he did with some style, ably supported by Nick Hampton (28 n.o.), to secure an excellent 8 wicket victory.

A good team performance from Radlett and a good first win. Come on the 2s!-
