Match report On the best day of the year (My birthday), Uncle Bill Marshall had arranged a friendly against Old Albanians A side. What should I do, My Under 10 son is playing a league game and I have to score for them and my big son is playing for the Under 15 side. I decide to leave the arrangements to the "Godfather" of Edgware - Mr Piero "Don" Guerrini.

Piero rallies a team together, wakes me up at 6.20 to say that Bhavin has cried off for a record breaking 357th time and he is a man short and can I, before opening my presents, find a replacement. I rang 63 players who were all still coming back from night clubs (Good to see Silla's influence working well) and eventually Mehul Shah is woken up by his Dad to advise him that he has been ordered to play!!!!

In good time the team massed in the nets at Radlett and had to be rounded up like 7 year olds to get into the cars for the short journey to Woolams. I get there with 4 overs bowled in the second innings, with the Under 10's already finished.

Piero, who has done a sterling organisational job opens with the returning Josh Hirschowitz, who has been out for 6 weeks with a broken arem and has grown 23 inches in the time since I saw him and Mad Dog Neel Malde. Neel, who models his batting on Geoffrey Boycott, batted 18 overs for a well groung out and patient 51 and Josh whacked a very fast 21. Rishi Naidoo, returning from a tree top protest in the Borneo jungle, lasted ONE ball, and has joined the Primary Club. Normal B team skipper Sahil "Super star" Shah, joined Neel and scored a lovely (by his account) 21 and then at the end of the innings in the search for quick runs, Shameel Ahmed, on debut and Sahil got out, leaving Ben Cherkas to smash 13 in double quick time and Daniel to smash 6 in 2 balls. 150 looks a decent score on a large ground.

I as stated arrived about 4 overs into the OA's retort and found my Number 1 bowler, keeping wicket, my wicket keeper with ball in hand ready to bowl and my star opener, batting at 9. I cannot argue with Don Guerrini as his team are all conquering!!!!

Anyway, some good bowling on debut by Shameel saw him get 2 wickets in his first Radlett over, (Second wasn't as good) and captain Neel, giving everyone a bowl (Well done Neel)

Only one OA' batsman threatened to take the game away from Radlett and wickets kept falling at a regular pace, so much so that OA's who only had 10 men were invited by Don G, to let the managers son bat again (He got a second ball duck!)

Josh Hirshowitz, showed what we have missed by getting three wickets at the end to add to his 21 runs and a fabulous catch in the deep, to remove the dangerous Parkash.

Man of the match, must be Hirsch - Welcome back fella!.

Moment of the match - Daniel pirrouetting like Darcy Bussell , calling for a catch and not getting with 8 miles of the ball.

Well done to all boys who played, special thanks to Mehul, for leaving his pit to come and play cricket.

Thanks to Andy Cherkas, Ketan Malde for driving, Renu Baskaran who was prepared to drive, and of course Piero for running the team in my absence. I have spoken to Duncan Fletcher, who is meeting with Lord MacLaurin, on Tuesday to tender his resignation and allow Piero, to take over the England team.

The good thing about this team is that 8 of the boys will still qualify for Under 15's next year and with a few additions will make Radlett just as strong in the 2007 season.
