Match report Sunday 16 July Abbotts Langley Academy180/8 lost to Radlett Academy 181/4 by 6 wickets.
On a baking Sunday at Cobden Hill, Abbotts won the toss & put Radlett in the field. They got off to a good solid start losing the first wicket with 94 on the scoreboard in the 21st over, Parimar Mehta getting a run out. Phil Simmons & Kieran Collopy had both bowled accurately only going for 16 runs each in their 11 overs . Hasit Mehta then also got a sharp run out & Neel Malde & Hasit, Radlett’s spinners slowed the scoring rate. Neel took 2 wickets, & in the 30th over Abbotts were 124/7 & in danger of wasting their good start. Daniel Cohen, a late inclusion, took 2 wickets & Tej Malde bowled a tidy spell. Cornes had got his 50 & then Battans senior & junior put on a good partnership, & Abbots recovered to a 180 total at 4.5 runs per over.
Radlett did not want to lose early wickets but Hasit Mehta went early hooking a high full toss to square leg. Matt Soffair & Oliver Jackson struggled with some tight early bowling & extras were Radlett’s top scorer for a while. However after the first drinks break the partnership flourished with good running. Oliver Jackson scored 20 in a 74 run partnership. Wicket keeper Josh Newman (32) came to the crease & with Matt Soffair put on 73 runs together in 9 overs which effectively finished the game off . Matt Soffair was caught trying to hit the winning runs on 85 & the Malde brothers saw Radlett home with 8 overs to spare.
