Match report On a hot Sunday at Cobden Hill Radlett won the toss & captain David Robinson chose to bat first. Anything loose by Harpenden’s opening bowlers was punished early on with Matt Soffair continuing his good recent form. The bowling steadied with Holmes bowling two maidens & J.Driscoll moved the ball in flight. Driscoll bowled Kailash Morjaria for 11 but Radlett had a 45 run partnership. When Randall the left arm off spinner entered the attack Soffair once again punished anything short & cruised past his 50 sharing a 47 run stand with Luce Guerrini. He then was caught & bowled off a full toss for 64 & after 17 overs the score was 92/2. There followed a steady fall of wickets, Luca going for 11, Shamit Nathwani , Mehul Shah,& Phil Simmons also cheaply & Radlett were 124 for 6. Sahil Shah was playing a very mature innings & had partnerships with Michael Williams (13) & Roshan Baskkaran before David Robinson (38no) accelerated with Manicamm Baskkaran (10no) at the end. Sahil’s 43 gave Radlett the score they wanted of 200 plus. A.Driscoll took 3-17 in his 5 overs & was difficult to get away; his brother taking 2 for 61.but had bowled well.
Radlett’s Phil Simmons opened with 3 wides but the got his radar going & his pace had the Harpenden batsmen in trouble. However it was Michael Williams at the other end who took 2 early wickets. He was also involved in 2 run outs & took a catch.. Soffair & Morjaria also took catches as Radlett’s change bowlers Roshan Baskkaran & Shamit Nathwani got on top. Shamit finished with 3-17 off 8.5 overs & Roshan 3-7 off 5. The fielding was excellent throughout With David Robinson marshalling the team well.
Harpenden were all out for 58 & Radlett ran out comfortable winners by 163 runs.
