Match report An amzing fightback saw Radlett snatch victory after a disastrous start to the game.Put into bat the openeing pair of Fergus and Jake were each clean bowled twice in the first 4 balls of the innings.After Jake was bowled again in the second over we had scored 5 -5 and were seriously underwater.
Showing great courage though,the openers battled on to score 7 each with no further mishaps.
Joe and Simeon then came in under great pressure.Joe got the recovery started with a nerveless display of clean hitting striking a brilliant 32.Simeon rode his luck but supported well with 11.Jaimin and Giles continued the repair work with 19 and 13 respectively although the opening bowler did return to bowl Jaimin,giving him 5 wickets.A fine display of straight bowling which I regret to say was not matched by an equivalent display of straight batting.Will and Dylan rounded the innings off by taking the score to 268,with Will hitting 22.
The big question was whether the boys could improve on the limp performance in the field last week.The answer? An emphatic yes.Fergus and Jake got their own back, Fergus with 2 clean bowled including his tormentor with the ball while Jake had one caught behind and snaffled a superb catch at cover.Will, Joe Giles and Simeon all bowled well and presented a real wicket taking threat. The fielding performance was cohesive and confident and rather intimidated the game but youthful Shenley batsmen,none of whom reached double figures.
MOM; Joe Lewis-welcome back Joe! A tremendous bottle performance under pressure got us back in the game.
