Match report A convincing win against Hemel Hemstead put Radlet U10 in pole position on a sunny but very breezy Sunday afternoon.

Radlett captain Josh called it wrong and the opposition captain inserted us to bat first.

Opening pair Josh and Adi found it difficult to negotiate the extra bounce on the artificial turf and Hemel went away with a first over maiden. And on the 2nd over even though we were benefiting enough from the wide ball extras, the frustration got in and we gave our first wicket away as we ran when there is was no run! Though with the continuous gift and a boundary shot by Adi got us to 212 runs after the 4th over partnership.

The unknown character of the wicket been relayed by departing captain so Harrison and Neo were well prepared. Harrison lost his wicket on first ball but the rest of the balling were nowhere close to play and when it came, Neo put that away for 4 and we are 236 runs after the 8th over.

3rd pair - Oli and debutante Sid carry on doing the goods against much better ball this time round. Oli takes no time at all and deliver an excellent batting performance infront of a decent crowd scoring 17 runs of 20 balls including 3 brilliant 4s. It was joyous to see as he used his foot wisely and made the good length ball a half tracker and crowd were well happy to see him rather than the big football match on the telly. More over not loosing any wickets we are in commanding position, 264 runs after the 12th over.

The final pair Sayef and Neer just had to carry on doing the same however they found that extra bounce a bit difficult to play but wide ball extras were in abundance and both manage to hit boundaries a piece before Sayef lost his wicket on a very good yorker. Final score is 286 runs. It was achieved today simply because we lost only 3 wickets and its a mountain to climb for Hemel against our strong bowling line up.

A quick team talk during the break and the boys were up to the task, disciplined and showed the character which is achieved after a long summer last year and hard work during the winter. They have now got that winning mentality but having fun doing so was very pleasing. Josh's captaincy was excellent, calm but clever throughout.

Neo and Josh open the bowling and we put Hemel under even more pressure as we bowled them 3 times, and Hemel found themselves in real trouble with 193 runs on the board. Oli and Harrison got not much luck with the ball during the 2nd pair and Hemel somehow got the better ending 216 runs after the 8th over. Adi and Sid come in for the 3 pair and we keep them under pressure still. During this time we get one run out, one bowled and one caught and bowled. Adi shows his willingness and desire as he run and launch himself diving forward on his own ball and takes the catch cleanly - another class act that was applauded by the crowds and showed yet again the boys have come a long way forward. Hemel is still with same total and it's all but formality now to wrap up and come home with 20 points.

The final 4 overs were bowled by Sayef, Josh, Adi and Neo when we manage 4 wickets. A direct hit from mid wicket by Sid was the highlight. 17th over Adi had 2 wickets in a row and we managed another run out in the final over. Hemel played with hearts and it didn't matter much as half of them never played a competitive cricket match before.

While it was plain sailing for Radlett a difficult challenge lies ahead next game as we face much stronger team when it will prove how far we really have come.

Neer did a grand job keeping the wicket, Neo was awesome again with the ball but Oli is man of the match.
