Match report Oshan Bandara took 5-31 to clinch an exciting 11-run victory over Sandridge II with only four balls remaining at Queens' School Bushey.

A second Division 10 victory for Radlett V was very welcome as they were in danger of slipping into the bottom group after two ineffective displays the previous weeks.

Bandara bowled a full length with good accuracy on an easy-paced pitch, and he castled the last man when Sandridge decided to go for broke, having loat points by opting to bowl first. The end should have come two overs earlier when a simple catch was dropped in the covers off Bandara, the last of several straightforward chances to be grassed by various fielders during the innings.

Though Sandridge were probably one of the weaker sides in the division, they possessed a testing five-man seam attack, and Radlett ultimately did well to muster 171 off their 53 overs. Bandara and Josh Charles saw off accurate new-ball bowling, though the scoring rate did not rise from a crawl until Rob Millard came to the crease.

The ball deviated very little off the pitch, but after 30 overs Radlett's total had reached only 69 for one wicket. Josh Charles, top-scorer with 45, departed in the 36th over at 101, and the run-rate improved as Millard, Ross Bratt and Simeon Cohen -- another good innings from him -- managed to clear the infield.

The final score should have been higher, though it at least encouraged Sandridge to keep chasing. Lee Greenland had plenty of bowling options as captain, and wickets fell steadily in a gripping run-chase. Bratt held two important catches at mid-on and mid-off and added a direct-hit run-out. Even allowing for his part in the run-out of batting partner Millard, he had a good day.
