Match report A last-wicket stand of 36 by Simeon Cohen and Satish Pandey was the highlight of a disappointing eight-wicket defeat for the fifths at Mill Hill Village I.

Poor availability in the club left the fifths with little chance of upsetting the likely Division 10 champions -- Village, as newcomers from Middlesex Three, had started in a division probably three or four levels below their standard. But on this showing, relegation for Radlett will be a near-certainty.

The pitch tended to keep low, and Radlett's openers were back in the hutch before they had worked that out. Lee Greenland, standing in as captain, was bowled by a good one, leaving Alan Armitage leading the resistance.

Armitage, dropping down to the fifths in a late reshuffle, batted with authority. He occupied the crease and runs came steadily in a stand of 45 with Mike Dexter until low bounce penetrated his productive cut shot.

The innings as a whole was blighted by soft dsmissals against an accurate but unthreatening attack. Just when a score of under 100 look possible Cohen, very impressively, and Pandey, with a mixture of strokes, highlighted the failings of the upper order with sensible batting.

In reply Oshan Bandara and Greenland took an early wicket each, but weak fielding on a bumpy outfield and disappointingly fragile catching enabled Village to cruise to an easy win, passing Radlett's 134 in only 19.1 overs.
