Radlett CC 3rd XI v Old Haberdashers on Sat 28 May 2011 at 1:00
Match was Drawn

Match report In a pulsating game played in a very good spirit Radlett llls just came out short against local rivals Old Haberdashers. Rumours abound that they could be closer neighbours in a couple of years.

Robin Willis won the toss and opted to bat, with Albie Kerry joined this week at the top by Tej Malde. A serene opening partnership took the score to 57 before Albie, who was looking really good missed a full ball and was bowled. Tej soon followed and Iain Edwards and Bhavin looked as if they were in the mood until Edo was out. The score moved on at a steady pace as each batsman got in and the final impetus was provided by Lee Fortis and Kailash Morjaria with Lash finally getting a deserved league 50 and Lee smashing 2 huge sixes to allow Robin to declare in the 51st over when Lee was caught on the long on boundary.

What followed was the most sumptious tea provided by the SoffairMorjaria catering company, even by their high standards. Thank you to both ladies.

The Habs reply started slowly as Mark Landau and Dan Cohen had their own private battle but Mark was to lay a platform, with his intelligent innings, whilst some hitters played round him Simon Jackson in his 35th Radlett comeback struck in the first over with Albie taking a good neat catch. Habs looked good until Sami Ali pulled a hamstring and had to be helped from the pitch. Matt Shorts came in and was belligerent against anything short. A good partnership was ended when Kailash took the wicket of Shorts and Lee took a fine tumbling catch.

Wickets then started falling and a victory was sensed. Manish and Jacko started to get wickets and Sami returned to see out the last over.

A very good game played as said in a very good spirit, with a good declaration. Good luck to Habs for the rest of the season.

Thanks to Bill Marshall for keeping your correspondent sane after the early finish of the 2nd team game and thanks again to SoffairMorjaria caterers.

RCC 19 points OHCC 14 points
MoM a difficult one this - probably Kailash Morjaria (although this was a real team performance)
TFC - Even more difficult as everyone contributed - but probably the birthday boy John Armitage
