Match report Crawford maiden century gets Radlett off to good start

Radlett lost the toss at Bishops Stortford and were asked to bat. Start of play was delayed by 30 minutes as both teams were waiting for a shower to pass. The match was reduced to a 60/50 over split.

The wicket had a good look about it and the decision looked to be a good one from the Stortford skipper as Radlett lost the early wickets of Nick Fielden and Lloyd Patternott. Kabir Toor was looking in good form and playing well all around the wicket, he was joined by Radlett skipper Shane Burger. Unfortunately for Radlett’s cause Burger was trapped LBW by J Porter for only 7 with score on 37. Toor followed being trapped LBW to P Reed for a well played 35. With the score on 89 for 4 it was left to the new faces in the Radlett team of Fraser Crawford and Andre Sharma to do a recovery job and get the team to a competitive total. The two of them did more than just recover; together they put on a stand of 135 with glorious stroke play and good running between the wickets. Sharma was eventually run out for a very well played 55. Crawford was the real star of the show and was eventually rewarded for his dominant stroke play by reaching his maiden HCPCL century and in doing so taking the Radlett total to a competitive 270 for 9 off the allotted 60 overs. Radlett had 50 overs to try bowl Stortford out but struggled to pick up the first wicket. Burger and Corran opened the bowling and together created chances but non that went to hand. Heath Paynter got Radlett’s first wicket when he had M Akram caught for a well played 50. The wicket was playing well and the Stortford batsman made life very difficult for Radlett’s bowlers. The game filtered into a draw with Stortford ending on 210 for 6 off the allotted 50 overs. Kabir Toor and Heath Paynter each finished with 2 wickets
