Match report Sun Dec 11. Redbourn U15s 159 all out bt Radlett 148 all out by 11 runs in Indoor Cup final at Redbourn.
Radlett, from being in a winning position with 3 overs to go suffered 3 run outs to lose his match with 8 balls to spare.
Redbourn got off to a steady start but a sharp bit of fielding by Kailash Morjaria had Humphrey run out in the second over. Redbourn lost another wicket to a brilliant stumping by Luca Guerrini off Morgan Stanley’s bowling. Hussain continued to score steadily but wickets were lost at the other end. Lloyd scored a fighting 24 to give Hussain support & a 159 total was a challenging target, Hussain bowled by a Hemal Malde Yorker in the last over.
Matt Soffair & Kailash Morjaria well with a good 64 run partnership. They run well together but were aided by many wides. Kailash was caught for 12 but Soffair continued to retire on 26. Morgan Stanley came in & batted positively to also retire. Despite he loss of Hemal Malde for 0 & Luca run out , Neel Malde came in to play some fine shots for his 16. With 3 overs left Radlett were clear favourites when Neel was run out at the non strikers end. Morgan & Soffair came together & with just 15 needed off 12 ball with 2 wickets left just had to play sensibly. However, Morgan was twice run out in the penultimate over & Redbourn had gained an unlikely victory, Soffair stranded on 35.
Radlett bowled & fielded well & batted so well until poor running saw them lose their last 4 wickets to run outs. These well matched teams produced another entertaining match with over 300 runs scored & 12 wickets taken in the hour.
