Radlett cruised into the final of the cup as we beat Leighton, who are top of the league, by 60 runs. Leighton were lacking a player at the start & Radlett took full advantage. Morgan Stanley lost the toss and Radlett were put into bat, and we got off to a great start with Matt Soffair and Kailash Morjaria putting on 45 for the 1st wicket in 3 overs, before Kailash was caught for 9. Hemal Malde was trapped lbw for 6 but Matt and Morgan steadied the ship until Matt was retired. Luca Guerrini overbalanced and was stumped for a duck but Morgan retired soon after. However, Matt was lbw right after returning to the crease for 27, but Morgan (36) and Neel (20) accelerated well for us to finish on 168. Leighton’s openers started with some powerful shots, in particular targeting the small target of Kailash; however, we got the breakthrough with a tight run out from Luca Guerrini. In the next over, Morgan took two wickets, bowled, in two balls, and then a run out from Morgan followed in the over after. In Neel Malde’s first over came the moment of match, as Leighton’s captain launched the ball at Kailash (again) and Neel took a fantastic reflex catch off the wall. With Radlett only needing one more wicket, they lost focus, and wides became more frequent, with us only getting the last wicket off the last ball of the match, however the result was never in doubt, and Leighton were all out for 108.
