Leighton were allowed to get off to a fast start, scoring 59 runs off the first 3 overs before an over by Neel Malde slowed them down. We contained them well in the middle of the innings and then started to take wickets with 3 catches and 2 run outs before an expensive final over of 24 runs allowed Leighton a challenging 163 run total at 13 an over. Morgan was the bowling star with 4-24 in his 3 overs.
Matt Soffair and Hemel Malde started wel in reply scoring at 12 runs an over before Matt was run out for 21.We then had a collapse, Jake jones was run out after being sent back by Neel, & Morgan & niki Veale were out for ducks against the spinner.
Neel & Hemel then produced a 3 run a ball 70 run partnership before Neel was run out for 30. Hemel carried on to score 74 & needed 19 off the last over. The bowler bowled a tight over only conceding 10 runs & we were narrowly beaten. Neel & Hemel adapted to the match situation & ran well after the initial run out & if we maintain the same aggression & bowl a bit tighter, we should be very competitive in this league.
