Match report Radlett's bowlers were unable to protect a challenging 129 score due to a masterful batting display by Redbourn's T. Spears who scored an unbeaten 87 in the dark.
Earlier things looked promising for Radlett. Radlett lost their openers Neel Malde & Nikhil Sharma with the score on 20. Kailash Morjaria came in & hit a marvellous four straight over the bowlers head but the was LBW sweeping to the spinner Lydon for 10. Matt Soffair struggled early on with the ball popping up in the air safely, but he looked comfortable against the spinners, & took advantage of his early luck to score an aggressive 50 including 6 fours & 2 sixes.He was well supported by in form Shamit Nathwani(25) in a 76 run 4th wicket partnership. However Topham's first ball saw Matt sky a catch to mid wicket & Shamit soon followed stumped charging down the wicket to the medium pacer.From the promising 107/5 off 15 overs, Radlett only scored 22 runs off their last 5 overs but 129 should still have bee defendable.Hasit Mehta , Marshall Cant & Dhylan Baskaran all chipped in with quick runs.
Redbourn came out knowing the light would be bad later on & were in a hurry from the first ball. Hemal Malde & Dhylan Baskaran both took a wicket early but that was the last joy for Radlett as T .Spiers played with strengh & intelligence to dominate our bowlers & retain most of the strike.Hasit Mehta took a great catch for the second wicket at extra cover.A lot of the Redbourn players have been playing 40 over senior cricket for a while & their experience showed in this brutal performance. Another wicket may have changed things as the light was so difficult for the fielders & a new batsman would have struggled but our bowling & fielding became a bit ragged under he onslaught.
Still, good entertainment with 260 runs scored in the evening in a match played in good spirit throughout.
