Hemel Hempstead v Radlett CC U15C on Sun 31 Jul 2005 at 10am
Radlett CC Won 11 runs
Match report
31-07-05 Carefree Radlett Under 15Cs aggression pays of in final league victory
Radlett tried Marshall Cant as opener in this final league fixture to amazing effect. He hit a four off a beamer first ball & he & Jake Jones proceeded to score 17 off the first over.
They had reached 47 in the 5th over before Jake was bowled for 24, having seen off the fast opening bowler. Bragans came on for Hemel to bowl 4 tidy overs taking 1 for 19, but the run rate was still at 7 an over. Berav Kakkad (19) in his debut for the Under 15s looked comfortable until being stumped with the score on 101.Cant was retired having scored a hard hit 50. Bhavin(22) & Morgan Stanley (15) continued to score well, Bhavin particularly punishing some shorter bowling. Some missed chances did not help Hemel’s cause.
149 was a formidable target but Hemel set about the target with similar aggression & were scoring at 7 runs per over throughout. Smith scored a very rapid 37 as opener Before Roshan Baskaran had him caught by Berav Kakkad. Roshan’s 2 over spell with figures of 1 for 4 was Radlett’s tidiest, backed up well by Krishnan Majithia 2 overs 1 for 10. Sahil Shah showed good variation in his spell, Rishi Naidoo bowled a good off stump line & was unlucky that edges did not go to hand. Marshall Cant showed good pace to take 1 for 11& Radleet’s MOM. Thopson(41) was martialling the batting well & 15 were scored off Stanley’s penultimate over, leaving 14 required off the last with 6 wickets left. Bhavin Kakkad, Radlett’s captain backed himself & bowled the dangerous Woods for 17 with his second ball. Thopson was then run out by Wicket keeper Jake Jones trying to gain the strike, & Jones was bowled for a duck. Bhavin showed good awareness to run out the 4th wicket of the over off the last ball. & Radlett were home by 11 runs. A close match until the final over saw 287 runs scored in 40 overs, great entertainment on a chilly Sunday morning.
