Match report A close defeat from the traditionally depleted Radlett team in quarter final week.The young players who cam in did brilliantly.Aman bowlede as quickly as any 14 year old on view,Pav again took a wicket at this level while Will Withyman and Jack Cox were absolutely outstanding in the field.
So why didnt we win?
We batted first and scored 111-3 -at least 10-15 short.Will and Tom scorched off and when Tom was out for a brilliant fluent 49 we were on 68 after 10 overs.Will took more of the strike and when Harry fell at 93, we still had a full 5 overs.Unfortunately Will was run out for 40 and Joe, who was under the weather, could not find his timing and finished on 4 not out as a failure to run singles and penetrate the in field cost us.
Letchworth raced off but were held in check by Will who bowled 4 overs for 12 and Pav and Rikhil.Pav bowled Letchworth's county player and Harman and Harry also picked up wickets.The Letchworth keeper was a lot less trouble with the bat than he was with his incessant and inane chirruping in the field and we were rather disappointed to see him run out after a stodgy 8 in 8 overs.More was still there for Letchworth however having survived two drops and a run out chance.Although Radlett did brilliantly to put letchworth in a position where they needed 26 from 3, More smashed a 6 from the first ball of the penultimate over and 15 in all came from it.Radlett were close but we need to think about how to approach batting in the last few overs of an innings as the 18 we scratched off the last 5 was the biggest difference between the teams on the night.
All in all this has been a good season.Thanks to all the parents who have supported and the to all the boys who have played.Next year please remember that the quarter finals are in the week following the end of the league programme!!
