Match report On a pleasant Sunday morning, the Cs at last got ready to play their first match of the season. Ameer Kamal and Ross Pincus were drafted in to give the team leadership and backbone. And we were not disappointed with Radlett team’s performance.

Ameer put the opposition in and opened the bowling with Daniel Cohen and Rushab Shah. Harpenden got off to a steady if less spectacular start. Crocker (17) threatened to take the bowling apart but an impressive spell of 4 overs 2-5 from young Ben Cherkas ensured that the opposition’s score was pegged.

Radlett’s fielding in general was impressive with just 4 boundaries conceded. However, the team can do with sharpening up on catches as a few easy catches did get away. Notwithstanding that, Asif Hassan and Rushab deserve a special mention for protecting the 3rd man and fine leg areas with ease. Nothing went past either fielder.

Harpenden were all out for 80 with Ben Cherkas and Ross claiming bowling honours with 2 wickets each.

It was a great first half!

Radlett opened their batting with Asif and Rahul Gathani and the partnership (2) did not last long with Asif unlucky to be caught from a well-timed pull. Rishi Naidoo was called on to impress with the bat where he was unable to as a wicketkeeper. And, he did not disappoint anyone. Rishi finished with 32 not out that included some aggressive boundaries. He was well supported by Rahul, a tenacious little batsman, Tom Kelly with his quickfire 11, and Ross (20 n.o) - with his first batting for Radlett this season.

For Harpenden, Hussain bowled well but without luck. He finished with figures of 4-3-0-3.

And so, at 26-4 off 10, when Harpenden thought they had it wrapped up, Radlett batted with authority and reached their target with 3 overs to spare.

A great start to the season!
