Match report Radlett were eventually beaten by the league leaders, following their worst batting performance of the season.

Haxell won a toss that he did not want to win, on a small ground with the pitch an unknown quality. Lacking local knowledge, Radlett elected to bat, which in retrospect was a bad mistake.

The difference in the wicket before and after tea was remarkable. At the start there was tennis ball bounce and swing, but after the break it was a docile batsman's pitch.

But the pitch did not excuse Radlett's lemming-like procession.

All Radlett's wickets were catches. Enfield's bowling was tidy, and showed a determination that was lacking in the Radlett batting, with only three batsmen reaching double figures.

Having been dismissed for a paltry 80 runs an hour before tea, Haxell was upbeat and positive. This attitude paid dividends, and North Enfield at tea had lost their top four batsmen for 37. There was everything to play for after the break.

With a real chance of stealing an unlikely victory, it was disappointing to see very little of the bounce and lateral movement that some bowlers had before tea, and Enfield cruised to victory without losing any more wickets.

There was, in amongst the cricket match, a comedy moment when an Enfield batsman appealed against a Radlett bowler having tape on his non-bowling fingers.

Radlett's captain pointed out that the bowler needed the tape, as he had broken his fingers.

Radlett have now moved down two places, below the promotion level, and will have to improve to maintain their challenge.
