Match report Shenley Colts won an extremely tight game by 7 runs. The girls won the toss
and elected to bat first and got off to a reasonable start against some very
pacy and accurate bowling. Lucy and Chloe stroked what was available to hit
and ran well between the wickets. The middle overs saw steady progress as
the bowling varied, a plethora of wides and no-balls were mixed up with more
fast and accurate deliveries. The last over saw 18 runs added to the score
as Saloni went on the attack with a couple of boundaries. 275 was certainly
a competitive score.

Chloe and Lucy opened the bowling but against some aggressive batting could
not stem the flow of runs - 43 runs came of the first 4 overs. After that
the game changed dramatically with some superb bowling by Eleanor Gray (3
overs for 2 runs) , backed up by Malika , Sumita , Alex and Ellie.

Lucy bowled a beautiful delivery in the last over of the innings to claim
the first wicket of the innings - unfortunately it was not enough to change
the direction of the game as the Shenley Colts boys saw out the last two
deliveries.

The game was played with great spirit and the boys and girls should be
applauded for putting on a fine show. The umpires also really got involved
in the game sometimes showing a little bit too much enthusiasm - this was
more down to willing their respective teams on rather than any form of
'foul-play'.
