Radlett CC 1st XI v Beaconsfield on Sat 31 Aug 2002 at
Radlett CC Won 6 Wickets

Match report Saturdays league game against Beaconsfield was as tense affair as Sundays dramatic Becker Cup victory. Having elected to bat the visiting team scored 204 for 8 from their 66 overs. It would have been a much higher score had it not been for fine spells of bowling by Robbie Crocker (4-63) and Kervin Marc (3-69) who between them bowled a total of 41 overs. Radlett who were up with the run rate throughout the entire innings reached their target with 3 overs remaining.

Matt Evans was the catalyst for the Cobden Hill sides’ fourth league victory, with an excellent 102, the first century in the Home Counties Premier league by a Radlett player this season. He was ably supported by Jon Freedman (44) who together with Evans shared in an unbroken stand of 92 as Radlett completed the double on their near rivals by a margin of 6 wickets.

The final league game of the season sees Radlett make the long trek to bottom club Bicester. With Beaconsfield playing champions High Wycombe a victory in Oxfordshire could see the Cobden Hill side claim sixth or seventh spot
