Basingstoke & N Hants v Radlett CC 1st XI on Sat 10 Aug 2002 at
Radlett CC Lost 6 wickets

Match report Saturdays league game against Basingstoke saw not only a defeat for the Hertfordshire side but also an injury to coach David Houghton. Houghton received a nasty blow to the foot while batting and was forced to miss the semi final victory over North Mymms with a suspected broken toe.

Put into bat on a wet surface the visitors were always struggling, only Houghton and Robbie Crocker offered any resistance to the Basingstoke attack as Radlett were dismissed for just 117 runs. Astonishingly 6 of the wickets to fall were by virtue of leg before decisions

In reply Stuart Browne took all four wickets to fall in the Basingstoke innings to finish with figures of 4-30 but it was not enough to stop ‘Stoke winning comfortably by six wickets.

With that defeat Radlett slipped to eighth place in the Home Counties Premier League, however with relegation threatened Finchampstead & Bicester both losing, Radlett require just 43 points in their remaining 4 games to ensure premier league cricket next season. This week they entertain Slough at Cobden Hill, following that game they play the 3 other bottom placed sides
