Match report Sun 5th June Radlett U15B 141/0 lost to Berkhamstead 142/7 by 3 wickets
Radlett chose to bat & their openers Nikhil Sharma (45) & Ragu Subramanian (70) put on an unbeaten partnership of 141 runs. They ran aggressively but also punished the over pitched & short balls with some quality fours. Berkhamstead impressed with their team spirit & never gave up.
In reply Berkhamstead were aggressive too from the first over, coping with a good opening spell from Jai Shah. Their opening partnership of 27 runs between Chris Bright & Toby Phillips was broken in the 5th over by a stunning catch at mid wicket by Baiju Ganatra. There followed a good partnership between Chris Bright & Turner. At 95 Neil Malde took both batsmen for 38 & Radlett were back in the match. Neil Malde’s spell of 4 overs 3 for 19 runs was Radlett’s most economical by far. Baiju also bowled well for 3 overs but got punished in his 4th. Paul sandiford looked sharp in the field.
With 3 overs left Radlett were slight favorites but in the penultimate over by Jai Shah, eaton hit 2 crucial fours & only 3 were needed off the final over. Niki veale took a caught & bowled off the first ball. A bad misfied off the second gave a single & a dropped dolly catch off the third ball allowed another single. Pollock then hit the winning runs to win a thrilling finale for Berkhamstead.
Disappointing for Radlett B who have yet to post a win, but they batted & bowled well & were just let down in the fielding department.Berkhamstead showed great fight & team spirit to bring this match back.
