Radlett CC U15 v Hemel H T on Wed 03 Aug 2005 at 2pm
Radlett CC Won 4 wickets
Match report
Wednesday 03-08 Radlett U15 153 for 6 beat Hemel 150-5 by 4 wickets in 40 overs per side match
On a windy afternoon at Cobden Hill, Radlett fielded a strong bowling line-up to restrict Hemel to 150 runs in 40 overs. Kieran Collopy and John Mansell only conceded 15 runs in the first 8 overs. The Hemel openers may have thought they had seen off the fast bowlers but on came Jai Shah and Dhylan Baskarran to bowl with equal venom. Dhylan’s practise for this match has paid off with 3 wickets, 2 maidens for 4 runs. The reliable Roshan Baskarran was not quite as accurate as normal but still only conceded 14 runs in his 4 overs Hasit Mehta and Shamit Nathwani both were economical with their spin bowling to keep the scoring rate at only 3 an over. Hemel had a good partnership between opener Eoin Smith and Amir Toweed of 54 runs for the 4th wicket, Amir being lbw to Bherav Kakkad for 18. Bherav and Hemel Malde both bowled excellent spells while Hemel were trying to kick on, but Smith managed to accelerate with Calum McCarthy, scoring 26 runs in the last 4 overs. Radlett’s fielding became a bit sloppy, and stumpings and run out opportunities were missed. However, a score of 150 was not intimidating as long as Radlett did not lose early wickets.
After consuming a lovely tea provided by Claire Soffair, Radlett lost opener Hemel Malde for 0 in the first over. Kailash Morjaria soon followed for 3, and Bherav Kakkad for 5. Luca Guerrini looked composed in reaching his 25, but his loss with the score on 43 left Radlett in a precarious position. Their last 2 recognised batsmen proceeded to put on a 36 run partnership before Hasit was caught at midwicket pulling a short ball. Captain Shamit Nathwani stayed calm and was joined by Kieran Collopy (27) for a vital 6th wicket stand of 69 runs before Kieran was caught. Shamit went on to score 56 not out and hit the winning runs in the 36th over. This was a good win against a well supported Hemel U15 team. Thanks to Rosie Soffair for scoring.
