Match report Radlett lost the toss to Abbots Langley and were asked by the away Captain to field first.

Kieran Collopy gave the home side a good start by bowling Aiden Byrne with a Yorker with the score on just 2. However, that was the highlight of Radlett’s fielding as the home side became complacent in all departments; not bowling line and length, slack fielding, extras galore (28), and with poor fielding and placements, allowing Adam Takimagu (41) to score freely. Tim Carey (15 n.o.) and Loz Watson (11 n.o.) also played well for Abbots Langley in taking singles with freedom.

With the exception of Morgan Stanley (4-1-10-0) and Phil Simmons (3-0-8-0), Radlett’s bowling lacked focus. Abbotts Langley posted a respectable target of 105.

Radlett started their batting with Matt Soffair and Ameer Kamal and were quickly put on the back foot by losing wickets through poor shot selection. Matt Soffair (1), Ragu Subramaniam (2), and Kailash Morjaria (1) were quickly returned to the pavilion. With score at 14 for 3, this had to be the wake-up call for the home side!

Indeed, it was now time for Radlett to do what they do best. Play Cricket with style and controlled aggression. Ameer Kamal (35); played a stylish and mature innings that included several boundaries and numerous quick singles and 2s and not forgetting a 3. At the other end, Rob Watson (56 n.o.) was in a belligerent mood and punished any bad delivery to the boundary. His excellent innings off just 27 deliveries included ten 4s and a six.

And so a timely partnership of 73 between Kamal and Watson sealed a match that could easily have proven a banana skin for a confident but complacent Radlett U15 team.
