Match report There was heartbreak for Radlett B As they lose to Redbourn on the last ball with the scores tied on 150 runs.
Radlett fought back magnificently to make a match of this when all seemed lost with Redbourn scoring a massive 150 runs/2. Despite losing Jake Jones early for 0, Nikhil Sharma(28) & left hander Neel Malde had a 77 run partnership at 5 an over to keep Radlett in with a shout. Despite needing 10 runs an over off thev last few, Radlett scored even more so that just 4 were needed off the final over. Unfortunately we could only get 4 singles. The hero was Neel Malde who hit a brilliant 73 in his 17 overs at the crease. He was run out with 2 overs to spare, but Luca Guerrini was still hitting massive shots for his 28 not out.
Earlier Redbourn had destroyed Radlett’s bowling attack with Kasim Hussain scoring 55 & Chris Dobson 49 not out. Doherty came in late on with 17 more. Dhylan Baskkaran had achieved an early breakthrough but the a skied catch by Hussein was not reacted to by Radlett’s fielders & that missed opportunity was severely punished.
To even be in with a shout at the end showed true character & a fair amount of talent. This team will get better as the season goes on, but they have a tough fixture list & have been so unlucky to lose their 2 opening matches.
