Stevenage v Radlett CC Sunday III on Sun 16 May 2010 at 1.30
Radlett CC Lost by 70 runs

Match report Sunday 16 May Stevenage development beat Radlett by 70 runs

The rain held off and Radlett travelled to Stevenage to play on their top main pitch. Stevenage are a mature development team with players that have played together for a while and this experience and confidence saw them defeat a spirited Radlett side.
Stevenage chose to bat and once again, Brandon Lewis looked a handful as opening bowler. He took a wicket in the opening over and his pace was discomforting the batters.
Tome Blazevski had trouble getting his rhythm from the other end and conceded 14 runs from their other opening bat in his first over. Stevenage were going to punish anything loose!
In Tome’s 3rd over he induced the opener to sky one and Lee caught the catch via Tome’s juggling.
With Brandon taking his second wicket, we were doing well with the score 42/3 in the 9th over. However Stevenage do bat down and they put together some partnerships and reached 196 after 40 overs. Phil Simmons was back for Radlett but injury restricted his bowling, Harry Will and Harry Copley both bowled tidy spells in the middle order. We also used will Wright and the batters never managed to get him away and he ended with figures of 5 overs 1 for 13. He and Lee each took 2 catches, Tome another.
David Will and captain Shabs also bowled tidy spells but we were slow in the field and took 3 hours to bowl our 40 overs. New wicket keeper Rohan Mandamula is a good prospect and kept really well , coping with our pace attack well and taking the first catch.
In reply, the difference in the teams became apparent. Stevenage, were alert in the field, quick to change fielding positions, and went about their attack in a very competent, if vocal, manner. Marcus and Will had a slow start and Marcus succumbed having reached 10. Rohan came in at 3 and looked assured. He and Will play together for the under 14s but they were taking chances with their running between the wickets. Eventually Will was run out, possibly not quite grounding his bat. Shabir and Brandon soon departed trying to hit out which left The two Harrys to stabilize things. Harry Will was hit in the chest early on but hit the next beamer for 4 and looked quite assured thereafter. Harry Copley hit some good attacking shots and will get runs. Lee Greenland also showed why he is getting scores this season, surviving a close stumping appeal to post our highest score, 25. Phil hit a straight 6 in defiance but we were all out for 126, 70 runs short.
We could do with a couple of older boys playing returning to strengthen our development team and hopefully they will be back in a couple of weeks.
Many Thanks to George Copley for scoring and keeping the local entertained.
