Match report We could have done the toss the night before we drove up to Tewin. It had rained a lot, they had no covers. Skipper Dex came close to winning it, a close second actually. We had to bat.

Radlett's opening pair of Mike Dexter and Andy Saunders made a solid start playing the conditions more than the bowling before Saunders lost patience in the 16th over, out caught with the total on 30. The remaining Radlett batsman followed the stoical Dexter and set about ensuring that they batted out all the overs, accumulating along the way. Boosted by a cameo 32 from Peter Warne, including taking 20 off one over, and anchored by Dexter who was out for 54 in the 49th over, Radlett posted a very competitive 171-9 off their 53 overs. This was a fine performance on a treacherous wicket.

Tewin started their innings in a similarly watchful fashion. Neil Lederman bowled a full length and very tight line with his left arm seam and was unfortunate that in bowling so many dot balls, he rarely bowled to clearly the weaker batsman for most of his opening spell. By bowling a more changeable length, Vikram was able to scare the batsman with the variable bounce and movement he achieved. Nevertheless the Tewin openers also built a solid platform and with 20 overs to go only needed four an over with 8 wickets in hand. It was important that Radlett kept the bowling tight and bowling tighter as a few agricultural shots at this point would have made all the difference.

Dexter marshalled his bowlers superbly to ensure the 16 year old Lederman bowled at both ends of the innings returning figures of 0-32 off 15 overs. The pressure was kept on by Shabbir Foyez in particular who contributed 7 overs for 9 runs as well as his infectious enthusiasm in the field. Vikram and Michael Williams each bowled well for their two wickets.

Tewin never attempted the four an over run chase, perhaps fearful of their remaining batting, and stuttered to 149-5 from their 47 overs.

All in all a good team performance.
