Watton on Stone v Radlett CC 4th XI on Sat 02 Jul 2005 at 1.30
Radlett CC Lost 118 runs

Match report Radlett had their moments against one of the division's best sides, especially in the first hour, but they were outgunned on a village pitch offering assistance to bowlers.

The margin of defeat, 118 runs, was a little cruel, though it would have been far worse if Jez Menzies had not weighed in with a career best 24 at No 10. The domino effect stripped away the top order as Watton crowded the bat and hustled batsmen into errors.

Radlett whipped out Watton's three leading batsmen early on -- three wickets for Meepa when Charlie Randall, with a fine reaction effort at short gully, and Menzies, close on the leg side, held catches. Watton retrenched sensibly and Matt Bell, as Radlett's stand-in captain, could not regain the initiative. The fielding held up well, with Bell, Shabbir Foyez and young Simon Brennan exceptional.

Ash Kamal bowled accurately and economically in view of a very short straight boundary behind him until a hamstring twinge reduced his effectiveness, but 201 was always likely to be too much to chase.
