Match report On Saturday Radlett travelled to Hertford with both sides needing a win to themselves to a more comfortable league position. Radlett won the toss and elected to field. The bowling attack was bolstered with the return of Heath Paynter from injury. Radlett bowled some excellent lines early on putting the pressure on the Hertford batsmen. With probably their best fielding display this season, Radlett were able to reduce Hertford to 103-6 at the drinks interval, with two wickets a piece to Heath Paynter, Brian Dummer and captain Olly Robertson. After further pressure from the seamers, and with overs running out, the Hertford batsmen were becoming more desperate to find runs. Radlett then turned to Robbie Crocker, who, with the pitch now receptive to his off-spin, induced the errors which were to reward him with 4-30 in 11 overs as Hertford finally managed to crawl to 149. It was the first time Radlett had bowled a side out this season.

Radlett’s reliable opening pair of Jon Smithers and Dave Robinson were greeted with some good early bowling from the Hertford spinners. However they moved steadily on to just short of a century when Smithers fell for 49 with Robinson then following him back to the pavilion a couple of runs later having crafted his way to 44. This, Radlett’s highest opening partnership of the season, had put the side within 55 of victory. Michael Yeabsley, playing his first league match of the season, then produced a delightful cameo showing that he has lost none of his touch in easing to 25 not out. He was well supported by a quick fire 27 from James Lewis. Radlett finally ran out winners by 6 wickets with a good handful of overs to spare.
