Match report Radlett, after the euphoria of the previous week's run chase and improbable win, came back to earth with their tail-enders spending two hours staving off defeat after the batting had spectacularly failed.

Olly Robertson again won the toss and invited the visitors, Ampthill Town, to bat. Brian Dummer and Jon Smithers contained the opening batsmen, their first success coming when Smithers uprooted the off-stump with a perfect yorker. After drinks, Radlett seemed to loose their way slightly and the Ampthill batsmen moved up a gear and with it a large score threatened. In the final overs, Radlett regained their composure thanks to some good bowling by Chris Brown, Olly Robertson and Jon Smithers, however, by then the damage had been done and the Ampthill total of 244-7 looked like being 40-60 runs beyond Radlett's reach.

The Radlett batsmen needed to repeat their performance of the previous week. But it wasn't to be. Losing two early wickets unsettled the batting and with further wickets falling for the addition of few runs the team found itself at 55-7, on the verge of a crushing defeat with some two hours of play still available.

Radlett's numbers eight and nine had a chance to make a name for themselves, albeit in a different vein to James Lewis and Olly Robertson's whose massive partnership of the week before had taken the team to victory. Here it required two hours batting to save the game.
Robbie Crocker and Brian Dummer stood firm for thirty overs in a partnership of almost 90 runs. With Dummer gone for 37, Chris Brown took up the mantle and stayed with Crocker for the remaining five overs. Crocker reached a much-deserved 50 not out in what was probably one of his longest and most patient senior innings.
