Match report For an early season friendly, this was a highly competitive match which resulted in a hard fought and well deserved win for Radlett that augurs well for the rigours of the season ahead.

Winchmore Hill are a powerhouse in the Middlesex premier league and as such presented us with a big challenge to overcome. After Winchmore Hill skipper Andy Varley won the toss and decided to bowl, Graham Dill and Shane Burger took the initiative against an attack featuring ex professional bowlers Danny Law and Frank Griffith. Indeed Shane showed his own professionalism and determination in batting the entire 45 over allocation through for 79 (run out off the final delivery), leading the way to a competitive total of 203. Dilly's strokeplay was a feature of the early overs and on his departure Steve Lowe took the baton and produced some exquisite strokeplay in his innings of 49. Dan Chippeck provided some late impetus with an improvised 32.

In reply, Stuart Browne led the attack in his usual impeccable style and was somewhat unfortunate to claim just the 1 victim in 9 miserly overs. The back up bowlers Jim Chaudry , Haydn Smith and Graham Dill all bowled with skill and consistency and kept a fair control on proceedings, despite a mid innings onslaught, and in a nail biting finish, Shane returned to the attack to provide the coup-de-grace in his 4-wicket salvo, uprooting the middle stump with a devastating inswinging yorker to dismiss Winchmore Hill with the penultimate ball of their allocation, 4 runs short or their target.
