Match report A strong Stevenage side came to Radlett on Saturday. Overseas star Shane Burger claimed three late wickets to halt a determined Stevenage chase. Shane bowled the Stevenage number 11 with only 6 balls of the match remaining. A lovely sight as the off bail was clipped by another 80 mph exocet.

The match was set up with a solid opening stand of 93 by Nick Fielden 30, and Graham Dill 56, the pair overcame an excellent opening spell from Stevenage's bowlers. and some tight spin bowling, to give Radlett the position to post a good score. This tight bowling reigned in the Radlett batting with Burger 34 and Steve Lowe 27 looking promising before falling to the good out cricket of Stevenage. The lower order then rallied to give Radlett a total of 198. Radlett needed to bowl well to defend it.

Opening bowler Stuart Browne did the early damage with another impressive display of seam and swing bowling. He was ably supported by good spells from Jon Tricker and David Hegarty who both picked up key wickets. Stevenage fought back well and it was not until a fine stumping by Steve Lowe off a wayward legside delivery that Radlett claimed true control, Browne seized on
the moment and with two wickets in two balls set up Burger for his finish.

Burger did not disappoint and with renewed vigour claimed two wickets with short pitched deliveries, before sealing a great team win with his last delivery of the match.

Captain Haydn Smith marshalled the troops extremely well and Radlett look forward to another good game at Potters Bar on Saturday.
