Frogmore v Radlett CC U13A on Mon 29 Jun 2009 at 6.00
Radlett CC Won 38 runs
Match report
A good win against ever improving Frogmore. As always there were things to learn from but there were a lot of very positive things to come out of this match.
Radlett won the toss and batted first. Will was a man on a mission hitting 32 in 19 balls retiring in the 5th over with the score on 44.The innings did not really kick on as it should have done. The idea was to run the singles hard and punish the bad ball. There were a fair few bad balls but we did not really dominate.Joe and Rohan put on 34 but did not accelerate perhaps as much as I know they are capable of-although Rohan did score at nearly a run a ball.Jaimin struck a brisk 11 but the other batsmen struggled to score quickly until Luke came in and made 19 off 12 balls with some lovely clean hitting-just what was needed at the end.
To be fair some of Frogmore's bowling was decent, particularly Albon who bowled with pace and bounce. But as a team we need to score more quickly and bat with more urgency.
Frogmore started by losing 3 wickets in the first 3 overs, two to Joe who varied his pace between slow and lightening very effectively.Enter Master Albon who smashed 31 in 15 balls including a memorable 6 off Joe.Joe gave as good as he got and the spectators thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle of two talented youngsters really giving it their all.
After that Frogmore were suddenly up with and beyond the rate at 54-3 off 7.Will and Simeon hauled the rate down and although it wasn't Simeon's night so far as wickets were concerned he executed a superb direct hit run out. The best bowling came late on from Luke and Junaid.Luke bowled very straight and fast and thoroughly deserved his two wickets clean bowled.Junaid was also suberb, bowling with a lot of turn and with the quality keeping of Rohan to tidy up picked up two stumpings.
His first wicket came from an outstanding catch in the deep by a small fair haired 9 year old.Freddie something......!
All round a lot of good things. The fielding was sharp and the bowling tight.I set a target of no more than 5 wides and no balls. There were 6 in the scorebook but I'm going to say that the boys met their target : if the wide off Will was really a wide,I would never have finished a spell of bowling!
Man of the match-Luke Paice for a great all round performance, closely followed by Junaid.
