Match report Finding a dead half eaten rat on the pitch was not the best start to the night.However,it got better as the ghosts of that horrendous performance agaisnt SV were not exactly laid to rest but partially exorcised.
This was very much a new look team packed with enthusiastic younger players who all did themselves proud.Jack Cox opened and looked assured before being given out caught behind by the square leg umpire of a square cut that looked like it missed the toe of the bat.Rhys Jenkins eased to 30 while Joe took a slightly more direct route to the same total.Will arrived late from a school match and hit a breezy 26 not out to take us to 130-4.
The fielding was tight as Jack ,opening the bowling this time with Joe worked up some good pace.Joe took 2-14 and is in good form with the ball.
Will had their opener pinned lbw, a decision which the square leg umpire queried but it looked plumb.Simeon varied his pace to good effect and took 3-9 while Junaid Sharif bowled some very tidy leg spin to collect 2-4.
Determined fielding from the two Sams, Aum and Ben meant that all the younger lads contributed.
It just goes to show that a lot of the U12s can play a role in U13 cricket.If the U13s dont keep to the high standards set tonight I can see them playing a bit more......Well done lads.
