Match report A wet and freezing start saw Radlett lose the toss and filed in steady drizzle.13 wides and 3 no balls reflect more on the conditions than the bowling which was largely accurate and always threatening.Joe got a wicket from the first ball of the match and always looked likely to take a wicket.Arun made a promising debut and Luke and Udeepa troubled the batsmen with their pace.Will used his outswinger to good effect picking up 3 but the star of the fielding performance was Rohan who impressed parents and players alike on his debut behind the stumps.
Conditions eased when we batted but the pitch seemed a typical wet dog with the ball sticking and bouncing slowly.The St Albans bowlers were largely accurate medium pacers and backed by really good fielding made it hard work to score the runs required.Joe pushed a little hard at one and was brilliantly caught at point after Jaimin was caught off a leading edge.Will and Rohan made serene progress but after receiving a series of very short balls, one of which nearly went for 6, Will was surprised by a fuller delivery and was LBW .When Meeps was cleaned up first ball by a good yorker the alarm bells were ringing but Rohan with a couple of glorious boundaries eased the pressure helped by Simeon's solid and sensible support at the other end.
A good first win then but perhaps some work on fielding and bowling is needed to keep the pressure on batting sides.
